Ok I have to confess i really do love the shorts and boots look, even if it’s uggs. I don’t know what it is. Actually yes i do. It makes me think of a very specific temperature and weather forecast. It ends up that there are maybe three days out of the whole year that the circumstances are just right. 65-73 degrees and sunny with just a few white fluffy clouds in the sky accompanied by a light breeze. Mind you this scenario is only for the fall when 65-75 feels cool after months of wonderful summer. I LOVE the summer. There’s nothing like laying on a beach, carefree and soaking up the sun. There really is something to be said about the changing of the seasons though. That first cool night, the first time you need to put on a sweater....it’s almost refreshing to have that change. Unfortunately these changes leave us with wardrobe issues.
Here’s the thing. By the time we start to accept whatever weather is happening now, stores and magazines are throwing next seasons “looks” in our faces. Ever try to go buy a bathing suit in July? Yes July. The middle of the summer when a bathing suit is essential I rest my case. The point is these things have us itching to throw out everything in our closets and start shopping. I know, I know. The last few weeks it’s been getting progressively cooler and every time i look up in my closet at by tall camel boots I think “hmmmmm is this the day?” No stupid it’s not. Just because it’s September and summer is over does not mean it’s boot time. It really does need to be cooler out. Do you really want everyone passing you to look and think “oh man she must be uncomfortable”. Lets be real.. 80 plus, even in ankle boots...you’re not really happy. I get the whole suffering for the sake of fashion thing but sometimes that theory just makes you look like an asshole with no internal temperature gauge.
Let me give you a perfect example of the average confused person. My sister Olive called me recently and said “Yo do you think it’s too early for boots?‘ It’s mid September. Well no Olive I don’t think it’s too early except that it’s 85 degrees out right now. 85 DEGREES out. Your feet, ankles and calves are going to sweat...alot. That’s not cute. In fact it's gross. She was planning on going to dinner with her boyfriend to a little Italian restaurant. Nothing fancy but she felt like dressing up a bit. I totally get that. Especially when going out to dinner. Unless it's McDonald's or a pizzeria you really should look presentable in a restaurant. In the end Olive opted for dark bell bottoms (which are coming back apparently thank GOD) with a white capped sleeve shirt and pumps. Not sure on her accessories. I would picture a long gold necklace and chunky watch. Totally cute. Totally acceptable for the location and weather. Give it a few more weeks O. We’ll break out the boots together.....even though I already wore my uggs to work once but don’t tell anyone. Just think before you dress during the changing of the seasons.
